The death of an Irish singer just a few weeks after she relocated to the capital of the UK is not being viewed as suspicious, according to Scotland Yard.
It has come to light that on Wednesday, members of the police force discovered Sinéad O’Connor unconscious in a London apartment just a few weeks following her arrival in the city.
Officers were dispatched to a domestic address located in the Herne Hill neighborhood of south London at 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a “woman who was unconscious at the address,” according to a statement released by the London Metropolitan Police on Thursday.
“Officers responded to the scene. At the site, a woman in her 56th year was found to have passed away. A notification has been given to the next of kin. The passing away is not being investigated as potentially suspicious at this time. There will be paperwork put together for the coroner.
In a brief statement released on Wednesday evening, O’Connor’s family informed the public of the loss of the Irish singer, which sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes from musicians and other people all around the world.
O’Connor recorded herself at an apartment in London on July 9 and published the video on Twitter. She stated that she had recently relocated to London and planned to compose new songs there.
I’m going to produce a video because a few of you have mentioned that you don’t trust that it’s actually my account; yet, it is my account. She assured him not to worry because she was going to behave herself. Because I always seem to be looking like a fool, I decided against making a video of myself.
She was speaking in reference to the passing of her son Shane, who was 17 years old at the time of his death and had been released from the hospital and placed on suicide watch just 18 months prior to his passing. She stated, “But you understand that the way your child, unfortunately, dies away, it isn’t good for one’s body or spirit to be fair.” But, in any case, let’s not think about that anymore.”
O’Connor had mentioned that she planned to use the guitar to write songs, so the camera wandered about the kitchen and living area while she spoke, revealing a vase filled with sunflowers and the instrument. The Dubliner had spent time in London on and off over the course of several decades.
The number of tributes kept growing. Ireland has lost one of its greatest and finest composers, performers, and songwriters of the past century at such a young age, according to Irish President Michael D. Higgins.
She had an uncommon gift and extraordinary relationship with her listeners, all of whom grasped such warmth and affection for her,” he added. I pray that her soul finally finds the rest she has been seeking.
The singer Morrissey suggested in a post on social media that other celebrities had shown their appreciation for O’Connor only after she had passed away. “You are ONLY praising her now because it’s too late to stop. You lacked the intestinal fortitude to stand by her side when she was still alive and searching for you.
